FAQ about cheap hotels in Istanbul

The Best of Asia and Europe

The city of Istanbul offers a trip unlike any other, encompassing Asian and European cultures to create a heady mix of art, music and food. The amazing Old Town and the Sultanahmet are home to iconic Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. More history is hidden in the Topkapi Palace, where you can glimpse the splendor and opulence of Turkey’s Ottoman heritage.

Take a stroll through the historic center or the busy Taksim Square before watching the sun set behind countless mosques and minarets. Local fish markets and numerous restaurants lining the bridge to Galata offer the Golden Horn’s daily catch.

If you prefer the fine art of bargaining to fine art, lose yourself in the Grand Bazar and maybe you’ll emerge with a hookah, some Turkish coffee, or even a carpet. The Spice Bazar further immerses you in the sights, smells, and tastes of Turkish culture.

Getting to Istanbul is an easy trip from Ataturk International Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel on the Asian side or a budget hostel in Taksim Square, Booking.com has over 1,000 great accommodations for a vacation in Istanbul.

Istanbul is a great place to visit and it's rich with so many things to visit and see. Many kind of food to try and enjoy. Beautiful nature and views. It pleases you curiosity about history and culture. Must see things are Sultanahmet mosque, Hagia Sofia, Topkapi, Basilica Cistern, Dolmapasi, Galata Tower and bridge, Grand bazzar and the spice bazzar, and many more. Sadly Istanbul is becoming very expensive and everyone is taking advantage of tourists from government to merchants. A lot of scam and cheat, Museum fees now 30-50 us dollars, The Basilica takes an hour at most to visit and they will rob you $30 Food is wonderful but expect to pay for it, don't order anything not on the menu and price shown, then you will pay outrageous price. They will try to over charge on everything so watch out. It's crowded city and transportation is plenty but still pickle style at rush hours (most of the day) You must shop around to seek fair prices, Grand Bazzar is crazy expensive and true scam place. You can find them charging 2000 tl for turkish delight and outside you can find it for sub 400 tl. Prices vary wildly and it's hard to win. You have to accept you won't win any, but at least control it.

    - Places

    - Places You need to visit the mosques especially known ones, like Al-Fatih and the most popular one Hagia Sophia Do not forget Adalar the islands You need to walk by the sea and stay there to have the beautiful seat and sight Galata tower and Bosfour sea - Food All the food is very delicious and markablem you should eat Borek, Aiden, Chicken and meat and you must eat Baklava and have to try Hafiz Mustafa Baklava -he is very special but too expensive- - Transportation I found it easy to get around istanbul, once I arrived I did the Istanbul card and charged it with money, you can use it for all transportations, it was about 100 TL and then you charge it easily through machines by what you need Overall, it was a very good and special experience, wish to visit Turkey again but I will manage to go other cities in sha2 Allah

My short stay in Istanbul was nothing short of magical. From the bustling Grand Bazaar to the serene Blue Mosque, every moment was filled with wonder and awe. The hospitality of the locals, the delicious cuisine, and the rich history of the city left me longing for more. Istanbul truly captured my heart in just a few days.

A city with tons of history, heaps of character, and a deluge of tourists. Visited in May and everything was absolutely packed. Off the beaten path things are better and more authentic, but if you want to visit the highlights you need patience - and money, as ticket prices are somewhat high by most standards, unless you're Qatari, Emirati, or a Russian oligarch. Makes a stark contrast with things like the underground/metro, which are cheap, as they're designed with mainly the locals in mind (very efficient too). Overall this is a bucket list-worthy trip to a unique city, but the number of tourists and the tourist-oriented prices found in many places detract from the experience. Side notes: Turning the Hagia Sophia from a museum into a mosque means that visitors can't access the ground floor, so you can't get a proper sense of the magnitude of the building. It also means that the first thing that strikes you when entering is the smell of feet. In fairness, I did visit just after the Friday prayer. Attempts to accentuate the contributions of the Ottomans compared to those of previous civilisations ruling the city, range from amusing to cringe-worthy for a Greek (most egregious example probably being the Hagia Sophia History and Experience Museum). Never went past so many metal detectors in my life, although checks are often formulaic. Police/security forces are present everywhere where a tourist would likely roam. Makes one feel fairly safe, at the cost of also adding a slight sense of oppression.

We aimed to explore the historic center, and from our hotel, everything was conveniently close by. Purchasing the e-pass allowed us to effortlessly visit all attractions, with everything perfectly arranged. Each tour provided by the e-pass was seamless, granting us direct access to museums and palaces. I was pleasantly surprised by how well everything was organized. Any questions we had were promptly answered through WhatsApp. If you didn't have a ticket, booking online was simple, and you'd receive the QR code instantly for entry.

Between the Istanbul of 7 years ago (when I was a few days...

Between the Istanbul of 7 years ago (when I was a few days as a tourist) and the Istanbul of today, there are not many connections. The city is more or less the same, but more crowded and more tired. People are tense and stressed even though they try to smile. Some of them. The others see in tourists only milking cows asking for tips with a lot of insensitivity (only in Barcelona have I seen such rude waiters). The prices are huge and unfortunately I can no longer recommend Istanbul unless you have a lot of money and you have nothing to do with it. Avoid restaurants in tourist areas and in general everything that is a bit touristy. No matter how hard you try to escape unscathed... at some point you will be victims. Too bad for this beautiful city that bad politics and inflation have brought to such a state. Do you want a breath of fresh air? Go to the new neighborhoods, to the marginal ones, go to the beach with the people of Istanbul. Do you want to see Hagia Sofia and the Blue Mosque? Next time.

Interesting location if you look for the real Istanbul, but not the one neat touristic place near Istiklal street and Taksim square. But just in 5 minutes walk from the hotel you can get to the Grand Bazaar (Kapali Carshi) and the most significant mosques (Blue mosque Sultanahmet and Hagia Sophia) are just 20 minutes walk. Sometimes it might be dirty and smelly nearby, but it is normal for the area. Tea and coffee are available 24/7 free of charge.

The personnel was very helpful, they try their best to help, they even gave us an istanbulkart for our stay. The hotel is newly renovated and two minutes away from taksim square and it's generally busy and you don't feel unsafe generally.

The best bed I slept in istanbul. spent nights at different supposed 5 star hotels, only this had a decent bed to sleep in. others their bed was too soft. supermarket was right behind and close to wide variety of restaurants

Location of the hotel was walking distance from Taksim Square and Osmanbey. Staff were so nice and this is a big difference in a multicultural destination like Istanbul. The room had ac. The breakfast was top.

Clean room, great location - 5 minutes walk to Taksim Square and the metro. If I return to Istanbul I will choose the hotel again - the staff are very careful and polite, my score is 10 for this apartment hotel
